MEADE HEIGHTS and SEVEN OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MANDATORY UNIFORM POLICY
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The ballots were tabulated by our committee. Results were held until after the AACPS Board of Education made the final determination of the attendance boundaries for both Seven Oaks and Meade Heights Elementary Schools. The Superintendent's redistricting recommendations for the 2007-08 school year were approved on April 24, 2007.
The result of the school uniform survey for Meade Heights and Seven Oaks were remarkably similar.
70.2% of the survey household responded for Meade Heights and 70.6% responded for Seven Oaks. 82% of the responding households for both schools approved mandatory student uniforms.
Therefore, according to Board of Education Policy JCDA, Regulation JCDA-RA, starting in the fall, students who attend Seven Oaks and Meade Heights Elementary School will be required to wear the school uniform as outline in the attached information's (See monthly newsletter).
Please look over the student uniform plan very carefully. Note that exceptions are allowed only according to the guidelines.
We feel that the required uniform is very generic in nature and that the different pieces of the uniform can be purchased at most clothing stores. We will, however, contact a vendor and arrange for several days when uniform will be sold at the school.
We want to thank all the parents and guardians who participated in this survey. We are hopeful that this new initiative will have a positive influence on both student behavior and academic achievement.
