Library Media Philosophy
Glen Burnie High library media center is a vital part of the school
program by extending and enriching the instructional program. GBHS LMC
supports the classroom curriculum by teaching students the concepts of
information access and introducing them to the resources available to
them. Students are encouraged to use the library media center, not only
for reference and informational needs, but also for personal enrichment.

Information
Problem Solving
in the Library Media Center
The library media center has a wide variety of print and non-print
materials
which can be used to research a project or pursue an individual
interest.
Media center research tools now include electronic databases for
magazines,
journals and newspapers as well as online encyclopedias such as World
Book
and Groliers. In addition, Glen Burnie has five computer labs which
provide
Internet access. The computers also offer applications for word
processing,
Cabri Geometry, SAT practice tests, and EXPAN, a college guidance
program.
High school seniors are able to search for scholarship information, and
students and teachers can find the latest news, weather, and sports on
the web.
Conducting research at GBHS in this age of technology links the student
to all kinds of information all over the world.
