National Honor SocietyThe National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929. Members are selected via faculty recommendations from a pool of students in 11th and 12th grade with a 3.5 GPA. NHS is involved in various service activities and community programs. Past service projects include the Kiss a Pig race to benefit diabetes research and a book drive to help underprivledged school districts. This year, and a fundraiser to benefit the people of Jepan after last year's earthquake and tsunami.
