The GBHS ESOL Department offers courses to students who speak other languages in their home and are not yet proficient in English.

Family Involvement Program

Once a month, we have a meeting at Glen Burnie High School for the relatives of ESOL students. Each meeting, we provide important information regarding their child's education.

Program Introduction - Families will meet the ESOL teachers and help determine the goals of the program
Septemeber 24
Open House - Families will have an opportunity to visit the school and observe ESOL classes any time between 7:17-1:30
October 13
Ensuring Student Success - Families will learn ways that they can help student succeed
November 17
Grading and Communication - Families will learn about the grading system and ask questions to their children’s teachers in response to their report cards
December 15
Holiday Pot Luck - Families will be given an opportunity to learn more about the other families while sharing a meal
January 26, 2011
Tech Schools, Community, Four Year Colleges and Financial Aid - Students should attend with their parents. Families will learn about all of the opportunities the students have after graduation. We will also fill out financial aid forms
February 23
Preparing for Next Year - Students should attend with their parents. Families will be given a copy of the class schedules for the following year and work with the student to create schedules for the following year

Summer Plans - Families will learn about different academic and extracurricular summer programs that their children may attend
