 Chinese Culture Club

Students will explore culture: stories, writing, music, history, food, language, and other aspects of Chinese life. Students do not have to be enrolled in the Chinese language elective to participate.

Builders Club is sponsored by the Crofton Kiwanis Club and is a service organization for middle school students. In the past the Club has done many fun activities, as well as community service activities and has sponsored school dances. The club members determine what activities will be scheduled.

The Band/Orchestra of Crofton Middle School are a direct extension of the classroom learning. Students are placed in the band/orchestra that best meets their needs. The band/orchestra performs at least 4 times a year. The Stage Band will perform jazz, rock and Latin style pieces of music with saxophones, trombones, trumpets, piano, bass, and drum set. This group will perform at the Winter and Spring Concerts with the other bands and will perform on our Spring trip.

Chamber Orchestra: Mondays 7-8 AM and Wednesdays 2:50 – 3:30 PM
Wind Ensemble: Tuesdays 7-8 AM and Thursdays 2:50 – 3:30 PM
Concert Band: Wednesdays 7-8 AM

Students will experience a variety of journalistic responsibilities involved with the production and publication of a school newspaper.

Students will be able to learn basic electricity and electronic theory as well as how to safely use a soldering iron. Students will be able to order electronic kits to assemble during club meetings and then take them home when completed. This club will also prepare and help students complete and work on science projects.

Students are provided the opportunity to learn leadership skills and creativity by overseeing the schools recycling program and the PBIS incentive programs and maintaining a clean environment through the management of the schools paper recycling program.

Increase awareness of other cultures, their beliefs, art, holidays, and crafts. Students will do research to gather information through print, oral histories, or the internet about other cultures and will create bulletin boards, displays, murals, school announcements, and web pages, and enter contests to promote cultural awareness and tolerance. Students can also share their cultural heritage or create presentations to be used in classes.
