Corkran Middle School Families,
Happy New Year! I hope all of you had a restful and relaxing holiday season and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with family, friends, and loved ones. It is hard to believe that we are already approaching the end of the first semester.
At Corkran, our teachers have been working hard to provide your children with the skills and strategies needed to be successful not only in their classes but also on our upcoming MSA tests which will be held in March.
January is an extremely busy month in AACPS. Please be sure to check the school calendar for the early dismissal days and days off.
For your reference, these days are also included in this newsletter.
Our second marking period Benchmark assessments for Math and Language Arts will be given during the week of January 17th. For Language Arts, students will be testing in their MSA testing groups. Students will be operating on a revised schedule on Friday, January 20th, to accommodate these assessments. Please do all you can to ensure your child is present and on time for these assessments.
As always, we appreciate your support and involvement at Corkran Middle School!
Thank you to all of you who have been participating in our PTSA candy bar fundraiser. On Friday, January 13th at 12:00 PM we will be holding a VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION for any parent who would like to volunteer at Corkran. If you are interested in volunteering or just want to hear more about volunteer opportunities, please attend. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Avery.
Also, we will be holding our NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN PARENT INVOLVEMENT DAY BREAKFAST on February 13th at 8:30 AM. All parents are welcome! Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement at Corkran.
