Q: What is Corkran Middle School’s Mission?
A: Corkran Middle School in collaboration with families and the community, promotes a positive academic environment where all students are celebrated and supported as they meet and exceed high academic standards to prepare them to become responsible citizens in a constantly transforming society.
Q. What high school classes does Corkran Middle School offer?
A. There are many advanced classes, including: Classical Languages, Algebra, and Geometry. We encourage all our students to strive for success in all classes.
Q. What World Languages are taught?
A. Chinese, French and Spanish
Q. What activities does Corkran Middle School offer?
A. All students are encouraged to participate in Corkran Middle School After-School Activities. There are no costs involved and students may switch or join most clubs and activities throughout the school year. After-School Activities meet from 2:50 – 3:50 every Thursday afternoon. Please refer to the Extracurricular Activities Program.
Q. What days are activity bus days?
A. Tuesdays and Thursdays
Q. How can my child get extra help from his or her teachers?
A. All Corkran Middle School teachers are available after school every Tuesday for Academic Support.
Q. Does the school offer breakfast?
A. All students at Corkran Middle School have the opportunity to eat breakfast each morning in the cafeteria. Breakfast hours are: 7:30 am – 7:50 am
Q. How can students get help if they have a problem?
A. There are three, full-time counselors to assist students with academic and personal concerns. Additionally, the assistant principals and teachers are available for assistance on a daily basis.
Q. How do students know all the school rules and expectations?
A. Students attend programs at the beginning of the year (and/or during orientation) where staff members go over school rules and other valid information. Students’ agenda books contain the school rules. The AACPS Student Handbook outlines school expectations, uniform/dress code, transportation guidelines and other pertinent data to assist students toward a successful school year.
Q. Does Corkran Middle School have programs to assist families?
A. Corkran Middle School has partnered with The Journey Foundation to support families in need of food assistance monthly. An application can be obtained from the main office or can be downloaded by clicking on the link below. For more information or an application, please call Corkran Middle School.

A. We encourage our parents to become involved in their child’s education. There are many opportunities available at Corkan to show your support.
