CHESAPEAKE SR. HIGH SCHOOL TO FORMALLY KICK OFF
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SIGNATURE PROGRAM

On October 16th, Chesapeake Senior High School (CHS) will become the next school in Anne Arundel County to officially embark on a Signature Program, launching its Information Management (IM) Signature Program with a Kickoff Event and Career Expo.

Using the tagline “IM Chesapeake”, the Signature Kickoff Event will feature Dr. Kevin Maxwell, Superintendent of Anne Arundel County Public Schools, and exhibits from companies and organizations using information management in their workplace.

On Tuesday, October 16, doors will open at 6 p.m. and light refreshments will be served as students visit the exhibitors in the cafeteria of the school located at 4798 Mountain Road in Pasadena. The Kickoff event presentations begin at 6:30 pm and exhibitors will be available to talk with students until 8:30pm.

Students from Elementary through High School are invited to attend the CHS Signature Kickoff with their families as an introduction to Information Management.  Students are encouraged to talk to exhibitors about how they manage information, careers, and how the student’s current coursework relates to the topic.  Exhibitors will stamp students’ “passports” after a visit and  students who complete passports will be eligible for a prize drawing after the event.

A Signature is a theme chosen by a school and its surrounding community to connect classroom instruction with real-world situations and workforce-relevant skills.  Educators work with business and community organizations to design a program that will engage students in rigorous learning through meaningful, interdisciplinary, real-world coursework, co-curricular opportunities, field trips, and internships.  Signature Programs also highlight opportunities that connect students to the 21st century workplace. 

Information Management (IM) is the collection, organization, and control of information from one or more sources and the distribution of that information to one or more audiences.  Information Management encompasses all forms of technology used to create, store, exchange, and process information in its various forms.  Information Management is used in our everyday lives and across all sectors of business and industry, government, education, healthcare, and community organizations.  Come talk with our Kickoff event exhibitors!
