Our School
Located in Edgewater, Maryland, CMS is one of two middle schools in the South River High School feeder system. Opened in 1977, the two-story building houses a population of approximately 1,080 students in grades 6 through 8, and serves the communities of Davidsonville, Edgewater, Mayo, Riva and Woodland Beach, as well as parts of Annapolis and Harwood, in southern Anne Arundel County.
The school office hours are 7:30AM-3:30 PM. The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m. Extra Curricular Activity and/ or Help Days are Tuesday/Thursday -2:50 P.M. to 3:50 P.M.
Central Middle School is proud of it's academic program. They consistently have achieved adaquate yearly progress on the Maryland State Assessments. The number of students achieving at advanced levels increases yearly.
In addition to being academically successful, Central Middle School is also a very safe and orderly environment. Central Middle School's students are: Committed, Motivated, and Successful-Keep their Stride with Cobra Pride.
Delayed Opening or Early Closing of School
Inclement weather and/or emergency conditions may force schools to close for the day or to be delay the opening time. Similarly, situations may arise that force schools to close earlier than usual. Early school closings automatically cancel ALL after-school and evening activities. Please listen to local radio and television stations or log on to
WWW.AACPS.ORG to receive updates on school closings. Students and parents are requested not to call the stations or the school.
