The Broadcast Club will teach students the "ins and outs" of the Broadcast Industry. They will develop their speaking voices as well as news-writing skills. They will be responsible for morning announcements each day. The club will meet two times a month from 2:45-4:00 p.m. |

Environmental Action Club

7th & 8th Grade Chorus
The after school chorus is an extension of the chorus class. After school rehearsals are used to prepare for performances. All students who enroll in chorus classes are eligible and are required to be at after school rehearsals in order to participate in upcoming performances. Rehearsal days may vary. Drama Club
The Drama Club is one of the oldest activities at CBMS. Our first production was in December, 1976. If you are interested in any aspect of the theater (acting, directing, stage crew, lighting, sound, etc.), consider joining this club. French Club
The French Club is designed for students enrolled in French I, Introductory French, and World Language Connection. The French Club will meet on Wednesday after school in Room B122. Students will participate in cultural activities such as cooking French crepes, singing French songs, dancing French dances, and watching French cartoons. The French Club will also sponsor fund raising activities for our annual trip to Quebec, Canada. Tutoring in French will be offered for students who need extra help. Come and join us. Intramural Sports
The Intramural program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to compete in various sports outside of the normal Physical Education class environment. The activities are extensions of units covered in the Physical Education curriculum. Students may participate after signing an Intramural Contract accompanied with parent and teacher permission. The activities will be: angle ball, basketball, floor hockey, and soccer. |

CBMS Newspaper
The CBMS Journal is a publication which will be created by the students of CBMS and will focus on providing the CBMS community with information of interest.
Students in the CBMS Journal Club will plan, research, report and compose articles. Students will refine interviewing and reporting techniques by writing articles concerning timely events and other information of interest. Students will write to inform, persuade, and entertain. Articles will be accepted from any CBMS student.
Once articles have been written students will edit and revise the completed articles. The articles are then published and distributed to the school community. |

Orchestra and Band
Students currently enrolled in strings and band classes at CBMS are also involved with after school rehearsals for orchestra and band events. Wind and string players (brass, string and woodwind) who have played for more than one year are encouraged to participate. These rehearsals prepare us, as a group, for upcoming performances. After school rehearsals are held on days when activity buses are available.

Members of SADA/SASS (Students Against Drugs and Alcohol/Students Against Starting Smoking) would like to invite you to join our group. We work to get the word out about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and smoking. We plan different activities throughout the year. Meetings will be held on Wednesday or Thursday after school. |

The Spanish Club is now open to Spanish and World Language Connection students. Starting in October, we will meet on Thursday during after school activity period twice a month..

Student Government Association (SGA)
An elected representative of your class, you will voice the opinions of your friends and classmates in school matters at SGA meetings. As a member pf the CBMS SGA, you will be trained as a student leader. SGA members sponsor dances, attend county, state, and regional General Assemblies, participate in school wide projects, and promote and participate in statewide campaigns. SGA General Assembly meetings will be held after school. Committees will meet after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays. |

Technology Education Club
The Technology Education Club will meet two days each week. Students will acquire technical information related to all areas of Technology Education in the middle school environment. All club members will be responsible for the materials they will use. Students will be involved in an ongoing problem solving process. |

Yearbook
The Yearbook is made up of 40-50 students who plan and create the HORIZON Yearbook. Students will be trained to create computerized layout as well as digital and scanning skills.
Usually, small groups stay on both Wednesday and Thursday. Students participate in both the sales and other business aspects of publishing. The final result is over 150 pages of a student created publication. |

National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a national organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS servers to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929.
The CBMS chapter of the NJHS was reestablished during the 2006-1007 school year. Since its reorganization, the NJHS has initiated many projects that have benefited both the school and the community at large. |

Bigger, Faster, Stronger Club
The objectives are to improve strength, speed, agility, athletic ability, physique, confidence, and reduce the chance of athletic injuries. The BFS Club will run from Oct. 18th through March 18th. We meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:40 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. Due to the limitations of facilities and supervision, the BFS Club is limited to 8th graders only. Due to the club's popularity, there will be a limit to the number of students selected. |
