Frequent updates have been made throughout the year.

The following are calendar changes (from the original) 
due to inclement weather, etc.  


June 11th is the last day for half-day pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and ECI classes. The last day for students is Thursday, June 17, 2004.  June 14, 15, 16, and 17th are all two-hour early dismissals, including all-day prekindergarten, kindergarten, and E.C.I.  The last day for teachers is Friday, June 18, 2004. These days could be adjusted if we have any other emergency closings.

3 Beginning of second marking period.
19 Report card distribution for all students.
16 - 22 American Education Week.
24 & 25 Schools closed for students. Parent/Teacher conferences for elementary and middle schools. Inservice day and workday for high school teachers.
26, 27 & 28 Thanksgiving Holiday - All Schools and Central Offices closed.

 
 

December
12 Interims to be sent home by this date.
22 through 31 Winter Vacation. All schools closed December 22 through January 2. School Offices and Central Offices closed December 24, 25, 26, & 31.

 
 

January
1 - 2 Winter Vacation. All schools and Central Offices closed January 1. School Offices and Central Offices reopen January 2.
12 - 16 High School Assessment Administration.
19 Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Commemoration. All Schools and Central Offices closed.
22 Semester Examinations for Centers of Applied Technology.
23, 26 - 28 High School Semester Examinations. Two-hour early dismissal for all students. Schools closed for p.m. prekindergarten, kindergarten, & E.C.I. students.* (shifted to Feb 2, 3, & 4th due to the inclement weather.)
28 End of second marking period (47 days).
29 & 30 Schools closed for students. Teachers report for Inservice/Workday (elementary, middle & high school).  *Note: January 29 and 30 are now school days for all students. See "Calendar Notes"  regarding Inclement Weather.

Calendar Notes:

Inclement Weather & Emergency School Closings
This calendar has four days built in at the end of the school year for emergency closings, making the school year 184 student days and 196 teacher days. If any of the four emergency days are not used, they shall be deducted from the June closing date. Additional emergency closings shall be made up as follows:

Religious Observances
Tests and examinations will not be scheduled on the day of a major religious observance, including Rosh Hashanah - Sept. 27 & 28; Yom Kippur-Oct. 6; Lunar New Year-Jan. 22; Passover-April 6 & 7. Tests and examinations for evening high school will not be scheduled on the day a religious observance begins. Jewish holiday dates are set according to the Hebrew lunar calendar; they begin at sundown on the preceding evening and conclude at sundown on the dates noted.

Semester Tests and Examinations
Extracurricular activities, practices, and club activities shall be scheduled at the end of the regular school day for not more than 90 minutes on the evening prior to the day of semester tests and examinations for high schools.

Appropriate Exercises
Schools shall devote a portion of the day to appropriate exercises on the following dates: 

When schools are closed, appropriate exercises should be held on the preceding Friday.
