Internship/Work-Based Learning Program

Internship/Work-based learning exists in each of our twelve high schools and is designed to be an opportunity for students to put into practice what was learned in class.  It is learning which takes place at a work site, usually in a business or community organization away from school.  Work-based learning takes on many forms, including internships, mentorships, paid work experiences and pre-apprenticeships.  It allows students to learn about careers, reflect on their interests, set career goals, and develop the skills and knowledge needed for a productive future.  It provides students an opportunity to interact with adults, observe and ask questions about careers, perform hands-on activities, and reflect on the skills and knowledge needed to lead fulfilling lives.
