Middle School Philosophy
Middle school Physical Education provides a variety of sequential performance tasks in order to develop the physically educated person. Physical Education emphasizes total development of the child. Middle school Physical Education affords students the opportunity to develop psychomotor, cognitive and affective skills that will be utilized in their current educational challenges as well as in their lifetime pursuits. Physical Education learning experiences compliment and support the academic maturation process of a child. Positive self image, the ability to interact appropriately, personal responsibility, team building and sportsmanship are natural components of the performance and skill based curriculum. The ability to compare, contrast and analyze as well as to plan, experiment and create are all utilized in the gymnasiums and fields as well as in the academic classroom. Development of students' personal fitness potential is the program quest. Safety is a priority on this journey and is emphasized in activities and execution. Opportunities for success and a positive environment are the climate for each instructional setting. Middle school students have the opportunity to develop lifelong skills and an appreciation for physical activity and personal fitness through participation in the Physical Education program. |
