1:
Use magazine ads to locate an example
of each propaganda technique
.
In cooperative groups, create a collage
about the propaganda techniques. Identify the techniques used in
the ads. Use technology to label the techniques and to make the collage
visually appealing.
Extended:
Design a new product. Create an
advertisement, brochure or multimedia presentation (KidPix Slideshow, Hyperstudio,
or AppleWorks slideshow) to persuade consumers to purchase the product.
Your advertisement should:

Target a specific audience and

Use at least three propaganda techniques.
These techniques should:

Task
2:
Examine advertising found on two favorite
websites:
Select one of the websites. Identify
the target audience and the propaganda techniques used by the advertiser.
How was the advertiser successful? How could the advertiser(s) improve
the advertisement(s)?
Write a letter to your teacher identifying
the target audience and propaganda techniques used by the advertiser(s).
Explain in your letter how the advertiser was successful. Identify two
ways that the advertisement(s) could be improved. Be sure to include information
about propaganda techniques used by the advertiser.
Extended:
Suppose you are a student member of the school
Technology Committee. The committee has been asked to present the pros
and cons of internet advertising to the PTA. Using what you know about
advertising on Scholastic for Kids and Yahooligans write a paragaraph to
explain your position either pro or con.Be sure to use what you know about
propaganda techniques and target audiences to support your position.Use
Inspiration to organize your ideas and a word processor to draft and publish
your paragraph.
