- Today you will experiment online with the shapes. While you experiment online look for relationships between each shape. (Click and drag the shapes to place them on the grid.)
- Using the shapes from online, answer questions using the "Determining Relationships Worksheet".
You have been selected to create a mural using the pattern block shapes.(triangle, parallelogram, trapezoid, hexagon) There are some special requirements:
- The mural must have an area equal to 15 square units.
- The hexagon has an area equal to 2 square units.
Your mural should reflect the relationships that you have learned from completing Step One.

Think about the importance of math and the role it played in your creation. On the back of your mural, write a note to a relative explaining how you created it. Be sure to include some key terms: fractions, geometric shapes, relationships and area.
