The Parent Teacher Association
(PTA) was was founded in 1897 in Washington D.C. The PTA is
the largest child advocacy organization with over 7 million
members nationally and 239,000 members in the state of
Maryland.
The PTA speaks for all children in the state and the nation,
providing a unified presence when action is required on
important issues facing our schools and our students. It also
provides information and support to parents and concerned
community members. The PTA offers the opportunity to serve,
volunteer, and to contribute to the welfare of all children.
Children represent our future. The PTA offers
the opportunity not only to impact your local community, but to
have input in major legislative and policy issues affecting
children throughout the state.
