The purpose and focus
of the Insurance and Safety Management Office is to
support the instructional and business programs of
the school system by implementing strategies to
minimize employee safety and health risks.
Also by identifying the underlying conditions that
contribute to accidents, reduce lost time as a
result of injuries, and limit property and liability
losses. This is accomplished by adhering to
recognized national safety standards and
requirements, training programs, and investigation
and inspection procedures. It also involves a
coordinated effort to document and track employee
accidents, return employees to work via an “early
return to work” program, and oversee the insurance
program for the Board of Education. The Office
of Insurance Management works very closely with the
Risk Management Division in
Anne Arundel County, the Human Resources Office, Accounting
Office, as well as any office or department that has a workers
