Victor Bernson
Vic Bernson
is the District 33 representative to the Board of Education. He began
serving his five-year term in July 2006, and
previously served on Governor Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.’s Commission on Quality
Education.
When he is
not working on education matters, Mr. Bernson is a lawyer who serves as the
general counsel for the Washington-based public
relations and strategic issue management firm DCI Group, L.L.C.
Previously, Mr.
Bernson served at the White House in the Bush administration as general counsel
for the Office of Administration. He also served as legislative counsel for the
U.S. Department of Defense, and as an attorney in the Executive Office for U.S.
Attorneys, U.S. Department of Justice.
From 1990
through 1998, Mr. Bernson was an active duty Officer in the U.S. Navy. He served
two years at sea, and six years overseas.
Mr.
Bernson is a graduate of Brown University, Boston University School of Law, and
the U.S. Naval War College. In 2003, he attended the Program for Senior
Executives in National and International Security at Harvard University’s John
F. Kennedy School of Government.
A resident
of Millersville, Mr. Bernson has served as a Cub Scout Den leader, and
basketball and baseball coach for local youth sports teams. He is a member of
the local chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Knights
of Columbus, and various Hispanic-advocacy and political organizations. He has
traveled to 49 U.S. states and 40 separate countries.
Mr.
Bernson has been married to his wife Helena for 19 years and has two children,
Alexandra (age 18) and Bobby (age 16).
