Patricia Nalley, President

Patricia Ray Nalley was appointed to a five-year term on the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County on July 1, 2007.

A longtime educator, Mrs. Nalley served as an elementary school teacher for 31 years, an assistant principal for three years, and recently retired after nine years as the principal of Davidsonville Elementary School.

She led the opening of the new Davidsonville Elementary School in 2002 and was nominated for the Washington Post Distinguished Educational Leadership Award in the same year.  Under her leadership, the school was often recognized for academic achievement on Maryland School Assessments and as a “green” school for incorporating environmental education into the curriculum.  Parent volunteerism also rose to an amazing 25,000 hours annually.

Committing her career and personal time to the advancement of educational goals at the state and local levels for more than 40 years, she has participated in several professional development courses and countless committees, including Principals Leadership Institute, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and Elementary Standard Practices Committee.

Mrs. Nalley is a member of the South Anne Arundel County Rotary Club and the Delta Gamma Alumni Association and has held memberships in the Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals, National Association of Elementary School Principals, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the American Education Leaders.

Mrs. Nalley and her husband, Bill, live on the Broadneck peninsula. Their blended family includes four children: Matthew Strohm Evans, III, and his wife, Margaret Rose Evans; Meg Evans Hayden and husband, Brad; Laura Nalley, and Chris Nalley along with grandchildren, Matthew IV, "Bo", Ryder, Heather, Ali and Peyton.
