Grants Development

Lois Kleinhenn Lanier
has a B.A. from Anderson University with majors in English and Russian Studies and a minor in Education;  an M.A. from Columbia University  in Languages and Literature; and a graduate certificate from the University of Maryland in Business Administration.  She has spent over thirty years in education, working both internationally and in the U.S.  Prior to coming to AACPS, she was Assistant Director/Development for the Maryland English Institute at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she was on the faculty for 17 years.  She has worked in China, Japan, Malaysia, and Russia.  As part of a U.S.I.A. project, she led a bi-national team which wrote and published an English language textbook that ultimately was approved by the Russian Ministry of Education for use in university programs.

Outside of her professional life, she is married, with a teenage son, and finds her role as baseball mom continually intriguing.  She is an avid genealogist and manages several family history Internet discussion lists.  In collaboration with an Internet-based team, she has just completed work on two volumes of the Lanier family history.  Her current interest is in tracing her maternal ancestor lines.
