Student Technology Outcomes
Program Outcomes and Indicators:
Upon the completion of grade 8, students will be able to use computers
and related technologies:
1. In a proficient manner that demonstrates an understanding
of the nature of these systems.
· 1.1. Use common input and output devices (e.g. mouse, keyboard,
scanner, cd-rom, probe, printer, speaker) including adaptive devices when
necessary efficiently and effectively.
· 1.2. Identify and use the most appropriate medium and/or technology
resource to complete a specific task.
· 1.3 Communicate about technology using appropriate and accurate
terminology.
2. In a manner that demonstrates understanding of the social, ethical,
and human issues related to their use.
· 2.1 Exhibit legal and ethical behaviors when using information
and technology, and discuss consequences of misuse.
· 2.2 Examine people's adaptation to and modification of their
environment as a result of changes in technology.
3. As tools to increase productivity, promote creativity, and encourage
collaboration.
· 3.1 Employ technology resources to support personal productivity,
group collaboration, and learning through the curriculum.
· 3.2 Apply technology resources for personal expression.
4. To communicate, collaborate, and interact effectively with multiple
audiences.
· 4.1 Design, develop, publish, and present products using technology
resources that demonstrate and communicate curriculum concepts to audiences
inside and outside the classroom.
· 4.2 Use telecommunications efficiently and effectively to access
remote information; communicate with others in support of directed and
independent learning, and to pursue personal interests.
5. To gather, evaluate, and analyze information/data and report results.
· 5.1 Evaluate electronic information sources for accuracy, relevance,
appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and bias.
· 5.2 Employ technology tools to locate, evaluate and collect information
from a variety of sources.
· 5.3 Use technology tools to process and analyze data and to report
results.
6. To solve problems and make decisions.
· 6.1 Use technology resources for real-world problem solving and
decision-making.
· 6.2 To employ modeling and simulation applications to solve problems
in the real world.
