Potential ability indicators - grades 1-3

  • Expresses creative and imaginative ideas
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate to others
  • Is able to organize ideas and make relationships to more than one area
  • Spends extra time on projects of interest
  • Wants to know the causes and reasons for things
  • Reasons things out in a clear and logical manner
  • Produces many ideas in the process of role playing and/or storytelling
  • Communicates skillfully through visual media
  • Can interpret songs, poems, stories, etc., through creative movement and dance
  • Speech is vivid (e.g., lively, intense, penetrating, exciting, includes analogies and metaphors)
  • Arranges blocks and other play materials in many combinations
  • Conceptualizes problems in terms of concrete objects and systems
  • Does not give up easily; keeps trying to solve problems
  • Sees relevance of new information
  • Produces work that is above average when compared to age peers
