Introduction 

What do you want to be when you grow up? There are so many jobs to choose from! What makes a person choose one job over another?

You are going to find out information about Marc Brown, the creator of the Arthur books!  Marc Brown is an author and illustrator who has made a difference in the lives of many children and adults. It is important for us to know about Marc Brown, the person, not just his characters.

Task

We have talked about what makes a good biography.  You are going to create a biography of Marc Brown, using resources on the Internet.

Process

1).  With your partner, decide who is the recorder and who is the reader.
2).  Print out the task sheet.
As you finish steps 3, 4 and 5,  click the BACK button until you get back to the WebQuest!
3).  Go to the web site about Marc Brown. 

4). Locate the information for your biography in the text.  Remember you are looking for all the things that make a good biography. 
 

5).  Record the information you have found on your "Marc Brown Biography" task sheet Your answers to the questions and reflections on the task sheet will be used to write the biography.

6). Now, use the information you have recorded on your task sheet to write a biography of Marc Brown. 



EXTENSION ACTIIVTY:

Think about what you have learned about Marc Brown. Think of what else you would like to know. Now, write Marc Brown a letter asking him a question so he can reply to you.  We will send your letter to Marc Brown.
