Introduction You have been given a grant from Corkran University to excavate the area which was once known as Mesopotamia. A development company has been clearing land in order to build a new community. Upon their clearing of the land, one of the workers uncovered strange pieces of stone and metal. He took them to his foreman who contacted Corkran University looking for a professor to identify these strange items. YOU are that professor!
The Task You have contacted your team and made plans to leave for Mesopotamia in two days. You will need to use your knowledge of the land and archeology to identify the artifacts and draw a conclusion of the people who once lived there. Your job on this trip is to
identify each item, log it into your notebook, draw a conclusion
of the inhabitants based on what you have found and present your findings
to the University. You must work quickly (yet carefully). The construction
cannot continue until your team has successfully completed this task.

Upon completion of this Archeological excursion you will have gained an understanding of the processes archeologists go through to piece together a civilization which they know very little about. As you have experienced, scientists do not have in front of them all the pieces of the puzzle, it can become very frustrating and time consuming. Think about the information you gather in your daily life as you learn new information. Do you acquire everything in one day or do you gather a little bit of information everyday? As you learn about Ancient Civilizations this year keep the procedure of the archeologist in mind and apply it everyday. HAVE FUN EXPLORING!
