     ANNOUNCING A
PARTNERSHIP FOR TRAINING LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALISTS

This partnership is designed to recruit teachers interested in being school library media specialists. This program will offer qualified candidates the opportunity to earn the Masters in Library Science degree from the College of Information Studies in the school library certification program.

This program seeks to identify teachers who have demonstrated effective teaching competence and who are highly motivated to enter a challenging graduate program to qualify as a school library media specialist. Criteria for admission to the program are:

  • A BA or BS degree with a minimum of a "B" or a 3.0 average 4.0 scale.
  • A combined Verbal and Quantitative score on the Graduate Record Exam of 1000 points.
  • Strength of letters of recommendation from persons competent to judge the applicant's probable success in graduate school.
  • Strength of statement of purpose.

The program will require a part-time commitment for three years including summers. Students in the program will have their graduate tuition reduced, the University of Maryland, Anne Arundel County will reimburse student for six hours taken each year.
