Workforce Housing Initiative
County Employees
Can Receive Funds to Help Buy First Home
The County recently
implemented a new program to help employees
buy homes in Anne Arundel County. Any full
time County or Board of Education employee
that is a first time homebuyer is eligible
to receive up to $20,000 in County and State
funds to help offset the down payment and
closing costs needed to buy a home. In
order to qualify, participants must first
complete a free Homeownership Counseling
class offered by Arundel Community
Development Services (ACDS). These funds
are provided as a loan; however, no payments
are required and the funds are loaned at
zero percent interest. Loans must be repaid
when you sell your home, transfer the title,
or in 30 years, whichever occurs first.
Under certain circumstances, you may be
required to repay the loan if you refinance
your first mortgage. For more information,
