Mrs. McGuire and Mrs. Gray assist students in the media center from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Each class has a weekly scheduled "skills thrills" class and a separate book exchange time. Students may also check out books before 8:50 a.m. with permission from their teacher. Kindergarten and first grade check out 1 book. Second through fifth grade check out 2 books. Catalog computers are available to help locate specific books. The media program's primary goal is to encourage students to become lifelong learners. Program outcomes involve research skills, literature appreciation, and technology application. All lessons extend and enrich the classroom curriculum. The media
center provides multicultural, up-to-date materials to supplement and enhance
the curriculum, and meet the diverse needs and learning
styles of the students as well as the teaching styles of the staff. A
networked computer lab consisting of 12 computers is available to extend
students' learning through the Internet and software applications.
