Students at Waugh
Chapel experiment in many different art mediums such as paper maché, tempera
paints, oil pastels, chalk, charcoal, clay, watercolor paints, ink and mixed
media. The program consists of many different art units: printmaking,
ceramics, drawing, painting, stitchery, 3-D and crafts. The art units are
multi-disciplined as well as multi-cultural. Lessons include social
studies, math, language arts and science connections. Each year an
Art evening is held at the school for all students. |
Waugh
Chapel participates in county-wide art shows displaying current students'
artwork several times a year. Waugh Chapel art students had displayed
artwork last year at Arundel Mills Mall, Maryland Hall, Annapolis Mall,
Chesapeake Center for the Arts, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, Anne Arundel
County Board of Education, The Governor's House, and the Kunte Kente Festival.
All
lessons are planned using the Anne Arundel County Program Indicators and Pacing
Guide matched to Maryland State Department of Education Visual Arts Essential
Learner Outcomes and Elementary Indicators K-5.
