| Students have homework Monday through Thursday in spelling
and math. They will have science and social studies homework periodically.
Fourth grade students are required to complete a Science Fair project. Language Arts - Students read for literary experience (fun), for
information, and to perform a task (make something). They write to
persuade, inform, and express personal ideas. The students are
exposed to many genres in the fourth grade. Some of these are
mysteries, historical fiction, realistic fiction, biographies,
informational text, and poetry. These units are:

Dollars and Sense
Mystery to Medicine
A Changing America
Math - In math, students solve problems. They calculate answers
to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They experience
activities in probability and geometry. The students also spend time
studying fractions and decimals.
Please encourage your child to read nightly and practice basic math
facts. |
