North Glen’s Music department consists of General
Music, Chorus, Band and Strings.
All students in grades Kindergarten through fifth take General Music
twice a week for thirty minutes. Students learn concepts based on Anne
Arundel County Public Schools music curriculum which is aligned with
Fine Arts Maryland Essential Learner Outcomes and the National Standards
for the Arts. Our textbook is Silver Burdett’s Making Music for
grades K-5. The General Music curriculum is divided into five units of
study: Rhythm, Form, Melody, Tone Color and Harmony/Texture.
Students in grades four and five may elect to be in the chorus. Chorus
is a graded, pullout class that meets for an hour once a week. Students
in chorus study musical concepts and prepare for performances that occur
at least twice a year. |
