We would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning families to Magothy River Middle School.

Our organization provides general support to the school budget and other funds. We coordinate enhanced learning activities, make improvements that will enhance our school environment, encourage participation in our volunteer program, and improve communication within our school community.
 
 
 

 Objectives 

  • Strengthen communication between home and school with our PTSO Newsletter, Student Directory, PTSO Website, and Marquee Entrance Sign.
  • Support other projects which fall outside of the school's budget that will enrich education and improve the school community.

  • Increase student interest in the PBIS by donating resources to the Marlin Store.

 

PTSO Meetings – PTSO meetings are held every 3rd Tuesday of the month from September through May in the Media Center.Your participation is highly encouraged.

MRMS Spiritwear – MRMS t-shirts, hoodies, flannel pants, and more can be ordered for your student.

Marlin Family Night

   The date for Marlin Night has been set for April 16, 2010. Food from Noodles & Co., fun and games will be available for all to enjoy. The popular silent auction and teen table will be back, along with lots of new activities. Please join in to help!  Volunteer and committee information will be posted as soon as it is available.

   There are many opportunities to volunteer at MRMS both in school and at home. Outlined below are areas where help is needed. Please check the 'Marlin Monthly', the PTSO Newsletter and the MRMS Website for information regarding volunteer orientations and opportunities.

    • Beautification – help maintain and improve the school grounds and hallways.
    • Grant Writer – apply for grants that would be beneficial to MRMS
    • Student Directory – help input data into an Excel file, copy, and distribute
    • Fundraisers – clerical and distribution help for any or all fundraisers
    • Hospitality – help with teacher appreciation events
    • PBIS Marlin Store – volunteer in the store during lunch periods
    • Marlin Family Night – help with all aspects of this in-school fundraiser
    • Book Fair – volunteer during the book fairs
    • Band/Chorus/Orchestra – help with uniforms, fundraisers, trips, concerts, and festivals
    • Community Service – assist with student Community Service projects
    • Ongoing Promotions – help organize and publicize promotion opportunities
    • CAC Representative – represent MRMS at County CAC meetings and chair MRMS CAC meetings
    • After School Clubs – assist with clubs such as 24, Drama, SGA, etc
    • 8th Grade Promotion – plan and chaperone the evening social event
    • Vision and Hearing – assist with getting students to the vision and hearing screenings
    • Media Center – assist with book shelving, book covering, etc.
    • Hoops for Hearts – volunteer during this PE charity event
    • Teacher Projects – copy, laminate, 3-hole punch, etc
    • Touchstones – work with small student groups to discuss short readings
    • Recreational Reading – work with student groups to discuss books
    • Emergency Chaperones – be on call in case chaperones are needed for field trips
    • Main Office Receptionist – fill in at the front desk (answering phones, etc.)
    • Yearbook – help the students and faculty advisor
    • After School Dances – chaperone student dances after school
