What's new this year?
The Anne Arundel County school system has switched to a 6 period day for middle school.  The new bell schedule can be found on the website under School Information on the right hand side.
 
How do I find out if today is an A, B or C day?
On the home page of the website, on the left side, click on Events Calendar.  This calendar is updated with A, B, C day schedule as well as other events, field trips and school information.
 
How do I determine which school supplies my children will need for the upcoming school year?
On the home page of the website, on the right side, click on School Supplies List that corresponds with your childs grade.  
 
How can I get a copy of the school newsletter and/or the PTSO Newsletter?
Current editions as well as previous month editions of the MRMS Newsletter and the PTSO Newsletter are posted montly.  You can access the newsletters by clicking on the appropriate title in the right hand column of the Magothy River Middle School website home page.
 
I need to get my child out of school early for a dental/doctor appointment, what is the school policy for signing out a student?
Have your child bring a note to the office before homeroom with the students name, parents name, name of person picking up the child, time of departure and reason.  Your child will get a pass to leave class at the designated time.  When you arrive to pick your child up, have your drivers license with you.  If you forget to send the note please call the office, with as much advance notice as possible, to have your child called out of their classroom to meet you in the office at a designated time.
 
Someone other than myself is picking my child up from school for an appointment how do I let the school know?
Please indicate the name of the person picking your child up on the note you send from home.  Make sure that person has proper ID with them when they arrive to pick up.
 
My child has a dental/doctor appointment early in the morning, what is the policy for late arrival?
Send your child with a note which indicates the reason they are late for school to the office.  YOur child will be sent to class with a pass.
 
What is the parking policy at Magothy River Middle School?
Park in the far parking lot, do not park in the bus lot in front of the school.  That lot is reserved for bus use only.
 
How do I inform the school of an address change?
Call the school counseling department. You will need to provide a lease/mortgage and utility bill for your new address.
 
I am picking my child up from school early, or dropping them off late, what designates a full day or 1/2 day for attendence purposes?
 Student must be in school for 3 1/2 hours of the school day to be considered present for the full day.  Anything less than 3 1/2 hours is counted as a half day.
 
What is the policy on bringing outside food into the building?
Store bought food can be brought in from the outside only if it is for a class event or project that is approved by a teacher or group.  
 
What if I need to drop something off for my child during the day?
Items such as homework, books, gym uniform, lunch, projects and other school related items can be brought to the main office.  Students may not recieve outside deliveries such as balloons, flowers or any non-school related items at any time. 
 
Is there a school dress code?
There is a student attire and personal appearance policy in affect at our school.  It addresses articles of clothing such as tank tops, profanity on t-shirts and length of shorts/skirts.  Gym shorts and t-shirts will be provided to any student not adhering to the policy.  The complete policy can be found in the student handbook, newsletter, and agenda book for specific information.   
 
What is the cell phone policy?
Students are not permitted to use a cell phone on school property. Cell phones are to be kept turned off and stored in their locker at all times.  If a cell phone is confiscated, it will be taken to the office.  A parent has to be present for the cell phone to be returned and students with multiple offenses will be disciplined accordingly.
