Welcome to Hillsmere Elementary School, home of the Hornets.  Please take the time to browse our pages and familiarize yourself with what makes our school and community so unique.

Hillsmere Elementary School is made up of approximately 437 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth.  We are located in Annapolis, Maryland and situated near the scenic and picturesque Chesapeake Bay.  Our cultural diversity contributes to the richness and strength of our community.  Our goal is to educate and prepare children to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.

This year our staff will focus on fostering the Annapolis Feeder System’s theme of One Annapolis.  This will include our becoming a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school, the introduction of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) in fifth grade as well as a staff focus on continuing to meet the diverse needs of our students.  As a staff, we’ll be reading and discussing Glenn Singleton’s book, Courageous Conversations About Race, as well as books and articles related to effective instruction in reading, language arts, math and science.

The collaborative effort between our dedicated parents and committed staff works to provide a nurturing and safe learning environment for our children.  We are thrilled that you have come to visit us and we hope that you will check in with us regularly for updates on all the exciting happenings at Hillsmere.
