The Counselor's Corner

Guidance
Mrs. Susan Carson
The primary goal of the School Counseling Program is to promote and enhance student success through the areas of academic development, career development and personal/social development. This is achieved through counseling, collaboration, and consultation.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
I meet with students on a one-to-one
basis so the student can
share
feelings, relate ideas, and discuss concerns about academics or personal/social
issues. Students, parents, and teachers may make a referral and an
appointment to see me.
SMALL
GROUP COUNSELING
Counseling services are provided to
students in a small group after consultation with teachers and parents.
Topics are based on students' needs and may include such issues as:
|
- Self-esteem |
|
- Friendship Skills |
|
- Grief/Loss |
|
- Divorce/Changing Families |
| - Anger Management |
Classroom Guidance
Classroom guidance is offered twice a month in each class (Pre-K to Grade 5). Topics may include:
| - Bullying/Harassment |
| - Student Success Skills |
| -Respect for Self and Others |
| - Personal Safety |
| - Conflict Resolution |
| - Career Awareness |
| - Transitions |
CONSULTATION:

for parents/guardian, teachers, and the community to assist them with
helping their students in academic, career, and/or personal social

I serve as a liaison between teachers, parents/guardians, school
personnel, nurses, support personnel, and community resources. I do classroom
