Welcome to Pre-kindergarten
Our Pre-K half-day program is very busy. We do opening activities, language arts, math, science, social studies, workshop/activity time, snack, and outside time. Small group and large group instruction is used in the program.
Opening Activities:
Pledge to the flag, calendar activities, weather discussion, singing, reciting poems/finger plays, and overview of the day.
Pre-K Language Arts Goals:
  • To foster children’s language skills
  • To help children learn about books and print
  • To provide children with enjoyable experiences with good literature, informational stories, and poetry - and the beauty of written language
  • To introduce the alphabet
  • To help children hear and work with individual sounds in spoken language
  • To provide a basic introduction to how the sounds of language work together
  • To offer children opportunities to use what they are learning about letters and sounds
  • To help children learn about stories and how they work
  • To help children focus not only on the importance of learning but on the joy the learning brings.

Pre-K Math Goals
  • The students will count 1-10 consistently
  • The students will identify numerals 0-5 consistently

Social Studies:
Concepts include learning about rules, learning about family, others, and myself. We learn about our feels using the Second Step program.
Science:
In Science we study units on senses, animals, and weather.
Workshop/Activity time:
Students choose developmental centers to learn and play with others.
Student Assessment:
Parents are informed of student achievement/growth during the fall and spring parent/teacher conferences, however we encourage you to contact us at any time with questions or concerns.

Pre-kindergarten is an exciting and fun place for four year olds to learn and get ready for their kindergarten years.
