Welcome to Kindergarten!
Our Kindergarten day is very busy. We do calendar activities, story time, language arts workshop, math, science, social studies, developmental centers, and outside time every day.

Kindergarten Language Arts Goals
The student will...
  • Learn about the alphabet and how it works.
  • Develop phonemic awareness.
  • Learn to connect sounds with letters.
  • Understand story elements.
  • Develop print and book awareness.
  • Have successful early reading experiences.
  • Explore the concepts of science, social studies, literature and the arts.
Units of Study - Language Arts
  • Develop confident and fluent readers through print and phonemic awareness activities and explicit phonics instruction.
  • Engage students in constructing meaning through the teaching of reading comprehension skills and strategies. Units include:

Social Studies
  • Concepts include learning about rules, looking at my family, others, and myself and holidays. We also use the “Second Step” kit to help us understand our feelings.
Science
  • In Science we learn to use our senses to observe. We study units on plants, animals, rocks, liquids, air, and forces.

Kindergarten Progress Reports and conferences are held in November and May. We encourage you to contact us at anytime if you have questions and/or concerns.
