Heating/Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

HVAC Student
This program at CATN prepares students for entry level employment in the HVAC field. Students will learn to safely use hand tools, power tools, test instruments, and special tools related to the industry. Students will be instructed in electricity, electrical schematics, and electronics. Students will also learn the refrigeration system and how to repair problems within the sealed refrigeration system. They will use the knowledge gained to troubleshoot system problems with heating and cooling equipment. The students will have the opportunity to take the EPA refrigerant handling test and earn credit towards the Maryland State HVAC journeyman's license. Career opportunities are available in heating and air conditioning installation, service, manufacturing, wholesaling, retailing, and building maintenance.
