Media Center

The Belvedere Media Center offers a variety of services for all Belvedere students. All kindergarten through fifth grade classes are scheduled once a week for 30 minutes of media lessons. Book selection is included during this time. Students may select from fiction and non-fiction books. We also subscribe to 22 youth oriented magazines. We are proud of our large curriculum-centered multi-cultural, ecology, and holiday book collection built partially with the funds received from private and public literacy grants.

Teachers also send their children in small groups to the media center for research and quick reference. Children may also come to the media center to work in our mini-computer lab to find information about subjects currently being studied in the classroom or personal interest.

The media center is also open during recess as an alternative to outside recess. Children may read, use the computer, or be a library helper.

Art

The Art Program at Belvedere has been developed to integrate the new Open Court Curriculum with hands on experiences that include a variety of mediums. To ensure that  each student has a comprehensive experience in art, Anne Arundel County has developed a pacing guide that is being used to direct the art program. The students at Belvedere enjoy a wonderful art facility that is well stocked with every type of art tool and supply. Each child is given the opportunity to work with pastels, paint, clay, textiles and different types of drawing tools. These elements combine to help students create enduring art.
