Why
Should I Join the PTA? For your children of course!
Research shows that getting involved in your child’s education helps
your child succeed at school. A
terrific way to stay connected with Belvedere is by joining the PTA. PTA members share opinions and information
with other parents, teachers, and the administration. We are part of a strong voice speaking
for our children's education. Ø
Time Commitment - Some parents are concerned that joining the PTA will stretch their
already-chaotic schedules. Don’t
worry. Meetings are held once a month
and seldom last beyond an hour. PTA
members are encouraged but not required to attend. We treasure our volunteers, but we will
never ask our members for more time than they are willing to give. Meaningful PTA involvement does not have to
be time consuming. If you have no
extra time to give, you can help by donating supplies for one of our many
school activities, providing ideas for new programs, etc. Ø
Dues – PTA dues are only $10 a year. A small portion of those proceeds go to the
National and State PTA, but most of the dues stay in the Belvedere
Community. Annual dues give you access
to the Members-Only National PTA website which is a great source of
information on legislative issues affecting children, parenting articles, and
other resources. The National PTA
Member Benefit Program offers discounts to PTA members from Barnes &
Noble, FedEx Kinko's, and more. PTA Officers for the 2005-2006 school year Mary Jo Childs, President Winfield Vining, Vice
