The Mission of Belvedere Elementary School
is to promote learning within a collaborative community, consisting of
staff, parents, neighbors and businesses, where all invested members are
dedicated toward empowering the students to achieve their fullest potential.
Our School Improvement Plan is designed to meet this mission statement
and we are constantly monitoring our progress toward meeting this lofty
goal. As the statement indicates, it must be a collaborative effort by
all identified parties and it is only if we continue to work cooperatively
that we will realize success for all students.
Belvedere
is working collaboratively with the College of Notre Dame of Maryland to
implement a Professional Development School partnership. The partnership
is based on the Maryland PDS framework that provides the guidelines and
standards for implementation. The focus of our PDS partnership is improved
student academic performance through research based teaching and learning.
The partnership provides additional opportunities for our teachers to engage
in focused professional development, and enhanced opportunities of our
students to gain additional learning opportunities. The Professional Development
School collaboratively supports the academic and clinical preparation of
CND interns as they complete their preparation as certified teachers. There
will be on-going efforts to inform and engage parents and community stake
holders in the various activities that foster and support the partnership.
If you have questions or would like to provide support for the PDS, please
contact the school principal.
