                              JANUARY, 2008 NEWSLETTER

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

 Parents!

In the month of January, we are really gearing up for a lot of great activities! Students will be participating in MSA Prep activities, Talent Show program, and other great events! We need your support in order for these opportunities to be successful for our students!

As the New Year commences, it is important that we continue to encourage our students to work diligently in their classes.  The marking period ends on January 23rd and all students must do their very best!  Math and reading benchmarks are coming and all students should be prepared.  In order to assist our teachers, please read daily with your children and practice their math skills.   At the end of January, the PTA will be sponsoring a Joe Corbi fundraiser.  The focus of this fundraiser will be to improve the technology in our school.  We have had the same technology resources for the last ten years!  It is extremely important that we provide our students with latest and greatest technology.  Both of our middle schools are equipped with Smartboard Technology.  This technology provides our students with learning opportunities outside of the traditional classroom. Students are provided with hands-on learning experiences, high level thinking tasks, experential learning, and access to futuristic technology.

Parents, we need your help in supporting the P.T.A. to raise money for our students to have access to better technology.  More information will be provided to students about how Jessup Elementary will be improving technology!  You can help support the implementation of new technology in our school by participating in the Joe Corbi fundraiser!

In the next five months of school, we really want to increase the number of parents we have joining the P.T.A.  Please complete the enclosed form so that you can become a members of our P.T.A (Parent and Teacher Association).  Currently, we have 432 students in our building.  We have less than 100 parent members in our P.T.A. Please make it your goal to join the P.T.A and become a part of the Jessup Family.  We have great communities and families.  Our collective goal should be to move our school from Good to Great for the benefit of our students!! I am looking forward to reporting a greater number of P.T.A members for the month of February!  Everyone have a great month and new year!!!
