Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Center of Applied Technology South. There are 18 technical and traditional programs offered at the Center of Applied Technology South. These programs help meet community needs by preparing Anne Arundel County high school students for the future challenges in business and technology. Our graduates can choose to continue their education in colleges, universities, and technical schools, or enter directly into the work force. We provide an environment in which students apply theory and knowledge toward skills proficiency, practice safe work habits, and exercise professional ethics.

Academically, we constantly stress the importance of mathematics, science, technical reading and writing skills. We also promote communication skills, excellent attendance and positive work habits to the students as our employers expect these skills on the job.

Our educational direction is school to a career path. Students learn skills in their career completer program. Throughout this experience they meet with business partners and technical school representatives. They participate in mock interview, job shadowing, career internships and work experience. Students participate in skills competitions at the local, regional and national levels through Skills USA. Students also attend industrial trade shows and professional meetings that provide an ideal forum for enhancing career skills, sharing information and observing demonstrations on the latest advances in the industry.
