About Us

The Center Of Applied Technology-South Picture of CAT-South is located in Edgewater, Maryland about four miles from beautiful Annapolis, Maryland. It has an average student population of about 975. The school opened its doors in September of 1977 and has since developed into one of the finest Technical Centers in the nation. The Center services five local high schools and two alternative high schools (Annapolis, Southern, South River, Broadneck, Severna Park, Phoenix Annapolis and Mary Moss Academy).

The school serves students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. A number of recruiting efforts are undertaken each year, including summer camp, 8th grade tours, open house, parent meetings, and the 9th grade Fundamentals of Technology program. Students generally enroll and attend classes in grades 10, 11, and 12. Work experience and internship options are available to students in the 12th grade.

CAT-South programs are competency based. All students participate in an employability skills program, which includes résumé writing and mock interviews.

The business community is very supportive and involved in the student training opportunities at the Center. They actively participate in the Craft Advisory meetings held annually in each of the skill programs. They are always willing to serve as guest speakers, interviewers, field trip sites, shadowing/internships sites, and as sponsors of our work experience students.
