Dear Parents,
Thank you
to the many parents who took precious time to write to the County
Executive and/or Superintendent of Schools about the projected
excess of three teachers at Davidsonville Elementary School. The
entire staff very much appreciates this show of support. It is so
timely that this letter writing campaign was kicked-off prior to
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK. Davidsonville teachers are certainly
special and deserve this week long recognition!
Within the
next few weeks our staff will begin to work on grouping students for
the next school year. The principal and staff, according to Board of
Education policy, put much time and energy into these grouping
decisions. Many factors play a role in the decision making process
to ensure your child’s academic and social needs are met. These
include class size, gender, reading level, work habits, and
behavioral issues. As in the past, our plan will be to create
heterogeneous homerooms.
As
explained in last month’s Principal’s Newsletter, please do not make
requests for a specific teacher. It would be impossible to honor the
multitude of requests from parents while also fulfilling your
child’s academic and social needs. However, if you believe your
child has unique needs that his current teacher or staff is not
aware of, please put your thoughts in writing addressed to the
Principal by May 21st.
Your
respect of these professional decisions is most appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jean
Marie Hofstetter
Principal
