The media program encourages Brock Bridge students to read. Students attend a half- hour media class each week and have a weekly book checkout time. In Grades K-2, the half-hour class session emphasizes exposure to literature. Grade 3 combines literature and an introduction to research. Grades 4-5 continue researching and experiencing good literature. The students read various genres of literature: folk and fairy tales, fables, mysteries, fantasy, realistic and historical fiction, and nonfiction. When researching, they use encyclopedia, almanac, atlases, biographies, dictionaries and computerized encyclopedias. The goal of the media program is to have students read for information and enjoyment.
