Internet Usage and Computer Ethics PoliciesInternet and computer use by teachers and students is governed by Board of Education Administrative Regulations 409, 607.02, 607.02A, and 902.03A. These regulations are found on this site as well as in the Policy and Regulations Handbook which is located in the principal's office and/or media center. With access to computers and people all over the world also comes the potential availability of materials that some people may find objectionable. Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) has taken precautions to ensure that students access information consistent with the goals of our instructional program. In an effort to try to assure that student's online time is productive and safe, AACPS provides Internet content filtering through BESS: The Internet Retriever for Kids, Families and Schools. However, on a global network it is impossible to limit/control access to all materials. Therefore, all students and their parents/guardians are required to sign a Student Ethics Policy Consent Form before a student may access the computers in the school. Prior to having students use the computers, teachers should verify that this form is on file. This form is available in MS Word 97 (146kb) or PDF (209kb, requires Acrobat Reader) formats. Selection of web sites by teachers for instructional purposes is governed by the provisions of the Anne Arundel County Public School's publication, "Procedures for the Evaluation and Selection of Instructional Materials".
