Homework

Homework assignments in the elementary school are based on classroom learning and experiences.

Teachers will assign homework based upon each student's needs and ability to complete the work within a reasonable time.

Homework assignments are also given to help students develop responsibility and self discipline.

Parents play an important role in ensuring that homework is completed. Parents can help by:

  1. Providing a place and time for students to complete their homework assignments.
  2. Reviewing directions
  3. Giving help as needed
  4. Providing interest and encouragement
  5. Checking to see that all homework is completed and ready to turn in to the teacher.

Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions regarding homework procedures.

School Work Folders

A folder containing samples of your child's work will be sent home several times each month. This will give you an opportunity to review your child's progress and assist your child in being successful. It also provides for ongoing informal communication between school and home on a response sheet contained in the folder.

Portfolios of student work are also kept by the teacher throughout each year to show progress over time. These folders, coupled with scheduled conferences, interim reports, and report cards, will provide a level of communication that will be satisfactory for most students. It will allow us to work together to resolve problems your children may encounter and to celebrate their successes with them.
